It’s a real beauty, with a black dial and a platinum case. So, I thought, why not try to remake one myself?
First things first, I had to gather my materials. Now, I couldn’t exactly use platinum like the real deal, so I had to find some alternatives. I went online, did some digging, and found some decent materials that wouldn’t break the bank. I got myself a nice stainless steel case, some black enamel paint, and a few other bits and pieces.

Once I had everything, I started working on the case. I cleaned it up, polished it a bit, you know, the usual stuff. Then came the tricky part – the dial. I tried my best to paint it evenly with the black enamel paint. It wasn’t perfect, but hey, it’s a remake, not the real thing.
Painting the Dial
This was a real pain. I had to be super careful not to mess it up. I used a tiny brush and tried to keep my hand steady. Took a few tries, but I think I got it looking okay in the end.
Next up, the movement. Now, the original 5088/100P has this super thin, self-winding movement. I obviously couldn’t get anything like that, so I just used a regular quartz movement. It’s not as fancy, but it gets the job done. I had to make a few adjustments to the case to fit it in, but it wasn’t too bad.
After that, I put in the watch hands and attached the strap. It was finally starting to look like a watch! I’m not gonna lie, I was pretty proud of myself at this point.
So, there you have it – my attempt at remaking the Patek Philippe Calatrava 5088/100P-001. It’s not perfect, it’s not even close to the real thing, but it’s mine. And you know what? I had a blast making it. It was a fun little project, and I learned a lot along the way. Plus, now I have a unique watch that no one else has. It was a whole process, let me tell you, but it was worth it. I mean, it’s not a real Patek Philippe, but it’s got its own charm, right? And the best part is, I made it with my own two hands.
