Okay, so, a while back, I started this whole project, right? I’ve always wanted a Prada Galleria Saffiano bag, the small one, special edition. It’s just so classy, you know? But the price tag? Ouch. So, I thought, “Why not try making one myself?” Sounds crazy, I know, but I was determined.

First things first, I needed the materials. I went on this massive hunt for Saffiano leather. It’s not just any leather, it’s got this special cross-hatch texture that’s like, the signature of Prada. I finally found some good quality stuff online. Not cheap, but hey, still cheaper than the real deal. And it’s tough to work with, super stiff, but that’s what makes it durable, I guess.

Then came the other stuff. I got myself some strong thread, you know, the kind that won’t break easily. And needles, the right kind for leather. I also made sure I had the right tools for cutting and punching holes in the leather. It was a bit of an investment, but I figured it’s all part of the experience. It needs to be a colour-block design.

The pattern was a whole other story. I couldn’t exactly find a Prada pattern lying around, so I spent hours studying pictures of the bag online, sketching out my own pattern, making adjustments. It was a lot of trial and error, let me tell you. I cut out a few practice pieces from some cheap fabric I had, just to make sure I got the shape and size right. It’s a small one, with two rolled top handles and an adjustable handle wrap.

  • First, get the materials together.
  • Second, make a pattern.
  • Third, cut and assemble.

Once I was finally happy with the pattern, it was time to cut the Saffiano leather. This was the most nerve-wracking part. One wrong cut and that’s it, you know? But I took my time, measured everything twice, and cut carefully. I also made sure that I had two zip-fastening to assemble.

Putting it all together was like solving a really complicated puzzle. I started with the main body of the bag, stitching the sides together, then the bottom. I had to be extra careful with the stitching, making sure it was all neat and even. And let me tell you, stitching through that thick leather was a workout for my fingers!

The Final Step

The handles were a bit tricky, too. I had to roll them just right and stitch them securely to the bag. And then there was the lining. I used a nice, soft fabric for that, so the inside of the bag would feel as luxurious as the outside. Last but not least, I added an enamel triangle logo to make it more like a real one.

After what felt like forever, I finally finished it. And you know what? It looked pretty darn good! Sure, it wasn’t perfect, and it definitely didn’t have that “made in Italy” tag, but it was my own handmade RemakePRADA Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Special Edition Bag. And I was so proud of it. I even started using it as my everyday bag. It’s held up pretty well, too, which is a testament to that tough Saffiano leather. It’s a unique bag that I made myself, and it’s got a story, you know? And that’s way cooler than just buying one from the store.
