Yves Saint Laurent ENVELOPE BAG Remake: Classic Style on a Budget

Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to make one of these YSL Envelope bags for a while now. You know, the ones that look like a fancy envelope? Yeah, those. They’re super classy, and I figured, why not try to make one myself? It seemed like a fun project, and I was itching to get my hands dirty.

First off, I gathered all my materials. I’m talking leather, lining, thread, the whole nine yards. I even found this neat little YSL logo thingy to put on the front. Makes it look more legit, you know? I laid everything out on my work table, feeling like a real craftsman, ready to tackle this project.

Started by cutting the leather. Now, this was a bit tricky. I had to make sure all the pieces were the right size and shape. I carefully measured everything out and used my rotary cutter to get those clean lines. No messing around here, I wanted this bag to look sharp. Once the pieces were cut, I moved on to the stitching.

This part took some time, let me tell you. I decided to do it by hand, ’cause I wanted that authentic, handcrafted feel, also I like the look of hand stitched leather more. Slowly but surely, I stitched those pieces together, making sure each stitch was nice and tight. It was kind of therapeutic, in a way. Seeing the bag take shape was pretty satisfying, not gonna lie.

After the main body was done, I added the lining. This was easier than the leather, thankfully. Just had to sew it in place, and boom, the inside of the bag was looking good. Then came the tricky part—attaching that YSL logo and the magnetic closure. I took my time with this, making sure everything was centered and secure. Didn’t want that logo falling off, that’s for sure.

Finally, I added the chain strap. I opted for a gold one, ’cause it just looked so elegant with the black leather. And just like that, the bag was finished. I stepped back and admired my work. It actually looked like a real YSL Envelope bag! I was pretty darn proud of myself, if I do say so myself.

It may not be perfect, but making this bag was a blast. I learned a lot, and it felt great to create something with my own two hands. Plus, now I have a stylish new bag to show off. Who knows, maybe I’ll start making more of these. It’s definitely cheaper than buying one in Paris, I can tell you that much! And I heard that buying in Paris is cheaper than in other places, which is at least 20% cheaper! But to be honest, this is not a big deal for me. It is more like a hobby. If you find some economic changes, just go ahead. Overall, I do think this is a quite worthy investment.

  • Step 1: Gather materials and tools.
  • Step 2: Cut the leather pieces.
  • Step 3: Stitch the main body of the bag.
  • Step 4: Add the lining.
  • Step 5: Attach the logo and closure.
  • Step 6: Add the chain strap.
  • Step 7: Admire your handiwork!

So yeah, that’s my YSL bag story. Hope you enjoyed it! I like this brand YSL a lot, not only due to its high quality, but also its value. What about you?
