Okay, here is my experience about how I remade the PRADA Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag from their official flagship store.
So, I’ve been eyeing this gorgeous PRADA Galleria Saffiano bag for a while now. It’s just so classy and perfect, you know? But the price tag? Ouch. It’s way out of my budget. But that didn’t stop me. I thought, “Hey, I’m pretty crafty. I can probably make something similar myself!” And so it all starts.
First things first, I got on to get all the details about this bag. I went to PRADA’s official website and just stared at the pictures of the Galleria bag for hours. I zoomed in, checked out every angle, and made mental notes of all the little details. I also read through the product description, you know, the stuff about the materials, the dimensions, all that jazz.
Then came the fun part: finding the materials. I wanted to get as close to the original as possible, so I knew I needed Saffiano leather. Let me tell you, finding good quality Saffiano leather that doesn’t cost a fortune is a whole mission in itself! I went to like, a bunch of fabric stores, both online and in person. Finally, after days of searching, I found this one shop that had exactly what I was looking for. I ordered it right away and also got some sturdy lining material and some high-quality hardware.
- Leather: Saffiano is not easy to get!
- Lining: Went with a durable fabric.
- Hardware: Got some solid metal pieces.
Next up, the pattern. This was probably the most challenging part, to be honest. I’m no professional pattern maker, but I’m pretty good at figuring things out. I took the measurements from the website and started sketching. I made a rough draft on paper first, then transferred it to some cheap fabric to make a mock-up. After a few adjustments and a lot of trial and error, I finally had a pattern I was happy with.
Cutting and Sewing
With the pattern ready, I carefully cut the leather. Man, cutting into that beautiful leather was nerve-wracking! I double-checked everything to make sure I was making the right cuts. Then came the sewing part. I used my trusty sewing machine and took my time with each stitch. I wanted it to be perfect, you know? I put on some music, got in the zone, and just sewed and sewed. Oh, remember I searched a tutorial about how to make a zipper pouch. That was super useful to make the inner pouch.
Assembling the bag was like putting together a puzzle. I carefully attached the lining, added the pockets, and installed the zipper. Seeing it all come together was so satisfying! I kept comparing it to the pictures of the original bag to make sure I was on the right track. I even added a little “handmade by me” tag inside, just for fun.
Finishing Touches
Finally, it was time for the finishing touches. I attached the handles and the shoulder strap, making sure they were secure and looked good. I also added the metal feet to the bottom of the bag, just like the original. And of course, I couldn’t forget the iconic PRADA logo. I found a similar one online and attached it to the front of the bag. I also decode the URL to get more information about this bag, and it turns out to be a good resource.
And there you have it! My very own “PRADA” Galleria Saffiano bag. It’s not exactly the same, but I’m super proud of it. It took a lot of time, effort, and patience, but it was totally worth it. I learned a ton of stuff during this process, and I had a blast doing it. Plus, I saved a bunch of money! It really looks like the one from the store, though. Super happy with how it turned out!
