So, I decided to get my hands on this Remake Patek Philippe, the Calatrava 5227J-001, the so-called “original order” version. Heard a lot about it, you know, all that talk about how it’s a good deal and whatnot.
First off, I looked around, trying to find where to buy this thing. It’s not like you can just walk into any store and get one. Found a few online stores that had it. They all seemed pretty similar, but I picked one that looked legit and had some decent reviews.
Then I ordered it. Paid for it and waited. It took a little while to get here, maybe a couple of weeks. When the package finally arrived, I ripped it open, eager to see what I got.
Unboxing it was kind of exciting. It came in a nice box, not the real Patek Philippe box, but still pretty good. Inside, there it was, the watch. It looked shiny and new. I picked it up, felt the weight of it. It felt okay, not too light, not too heavy. Just… alright.
I started messing around with it. Wound it up, set the time. The crown felt a bit stiff, not as smooth as I thought it would be. The hands moved, ticking away. I put it on my wrist. The strap was leather, felt a little stiff at first, but I guess it will soften up over time.
- Looked closely at the dial. It’s a champagne color, kind of simple, but classy.
- Checked out the case. It’s supposed to be yellow gold. Looks the part, I guess.
- Flipped it over. There’s a clear back, so you can see the insides. All those little gears and things moving around. Looked pretty complicated.
I’ve been wearing it for a few days now. Keeps time okay, haven’t noticed it being off or anything. Got a couple of comments on it. People saying it looks nice, asking if it’s a real Patek. I just smiled and said, “It’s a watch.”
Honestly, it’s a decent watch. It looks good, it works. Is it the same as a real Patek Philippe? Of course not. But for the price, it’s not a bad deal. If you want the look without spending a fortune, this Remake thing might be the way to go.
Would I recommend it?
Yeah, probably. It’s a good-looking watch, and it does what a watch is supposed to do. Just don’t expect it to be something it’s not. It’s a Remake, and that’s all it is. But hey, it’s on my wrist, and I’m kind of digging it. Maybe it’s growing on me.
