I got this itch to get a watch, right? Not just any watch, but one of those fancy Rolex Submariner types. But man, the real ones? Way out of my league, price-wise. So, I started lookin’ at these, uh, “high imitation” ones. You know, the ones that look the part but don’t cost an arm and a leg.
This one caught my eye – the Two-tone Blue Submariner. That blue and gold, it’s a real looker. I remembered seeing a real one once, and that color just stuck with me. They say it’s a classic for a reason, I guess. Anyway, I decided to take the plunge and get a high imitation one.
Finding the right one
First, I gotta find a decent one, right? I hit up the forums, read a bunch of posts. Some folks were saying the blue on the imitation ones can be way off, too bright, like a kid’s toy. So, I knew I had to be careful. I wanted one that felt solid, not some cheap plastic thing. They say the real ones are heavy, around 130g, I heard.
Getting my hands on it
After a bunch of searching, I found one that looked promising. Ordered it, waited a bit – felt like forever, to be honest. Finally, it arrived. I ripped open that package like a kid on Christmas. And there it was. Shiny, blue, and gold. It had some weight to it, felt pretty good in my hand. The band was all metal, not bad, not bad at all.
- Color check: First thing I did was check that blue. It wasn’t too bright, thankfully. Looked pretty close to what I remembered. Whew, dodged a bullet there.
- Weight and feel: It felt solid, like I said. Not flimsy at all. I don’t have a scale, but it definitely wasn’t no toy.
- Details: I looked at the little things, the crown, the links, the bezel. They all looked pretty good, for a fake, you know?
Wearing it out
I started wearing it out, you know, to the store, to see friends. Nobody seemed to notice it wasn’t a real one. I even got a couple of “nice watch” comments. Felt pretty good, I gotta say. I mean, I knew it wasn’t a real Rolex, but it gave me a bit of that feeling, you know? Like I was wearing something special. I heard the real ones, you can be waiting for years to get your hands on one! For a real one you might need to wait 2 to 5 years! Some people say that the real one will lose its resale value over time, just like other watches. And, for steel, it might be between $9,000 and $10,000, but this one? Much less, that is for sure.
Living with it
It’s been a few weeks now, and I’m still pretty happy with it. It’s keeping time, it looks good, and it hasn’t fallen apart. I know it’s not a real Rolex, and I’m not trying to fool anyone. But for the price, it’s a pretty sweet deal. It’s like, I get a little taste of that luxury life without, you know, going broke. Would I get another one? Maybe. It’s kinda fun, having a watch that looks like a million bucks, even if it didn’t cost it.
So, that’s my story about getting a high imitation Two-tone Blue Submariner. It’s not for everyone, I guess. But for me, it’s been a fun little experiment. And hey, who knows, maybe one day I’ll be able to afford the real thing. Until then, I’ll be rocking my pretty-darn-good imitation.
